Emotionally, Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil is heralded for being helpful
with stress and anxiety. It’s also used in cases of depression or when
trying to cope with anger. Ylang-Ylang is also considered an
aphrodisiac.
For Chakra work, Ylang-Ylang essential oil is said to help balance
the Sacral and Solar Plexus Chakras. Topically, Ylang-Ylang Oil has been
praised for helping combat acne and oily skin. It may help with
alopecia (hair loss).
Aroma: Sweet, floral, exotic and heavy.
Precautions: Excessive use may lead to headaches and
nausea. Could possibly irritate sensitive skin and it is advised to
refrain from using it on inflammatory skin conditions and dermatitis.
Mind: Excellent for excitable conditions, such as
regulating adrenaline flow and relaxing the nervous system, thereby
resulting in a feeling of joy. Could very well ease feelings of anger,
anxiety, shock, panic and fear.
Body: Its reputed ability to balance the hormones
makes it valuable for problems associated with the reproductive system.
Principally a tonic to the womb and could well be helpful after a
caesarean birth, instilling a feeling of warmth and togetherness. Also
said to keep the breasts firm. Its antidepressant and aphrodisiac
qualities are well known in helping with sexual problems, such as
impotence and frigidity. Particularly useful for rapid breathing and a
rapid heartbeat and its sedative properties could help lower high blood
pressure. Altogether it has a relaxing effect on the nervous system,
although prolonged use may create an opposite effect. Its antiseptic
nature seems to have a beneficial action on intestinal infections.
Skin: A versatile oil, having a balancing action
that makes it effective on both oily and dry skin. Also has a tonic and
stimulating effect on the scalp promoting a more luxurious hair growth.
